AVCA
An EU supported transnational climate awareness action in Bolivia, Guatemala, Costa Rica and Uganda.
Amplifying the Voice for Climate Action
Programme Overview
The Amplifying the Voice for Climate Action (AVCA) is a transnational intervention consisting of humanitarian aid activities in Bolivia, Guatemala, Costa Rica and Uganda.
The AVCA ESC programme aims to address in practical ways critical environmental and socio-economic challenges common across the three regions. Climate change on a global scale is having life-changing effects on the poorest peoples in these regions. Erratic weather patterns, prolonged droughts, and changing rainfall patterns are increasingly threatening food security and livelihoods for farmers in rural areas. This is coupled with deforestation and habitat destruction and uncontrolled urbanisation.
A key focus of this intervention under the ESC broad theme of Environmental Protection, Sustainable Development and Climate Action, will be on raising awareness about the need to protect our environment, to invest in processes and practices that are more sustainable.
The AVCA intervention will give participant ESC volunteers a first-hand experience of the issues faced by those in these at-risk communities. At the same time the volunteers will learn from those on the ground most affected by the issue. It will provide them with clear and practical opportunities to raise the issue of climate change and environmental awareness not just while at their project but also on their return to Europe.
VC is the leading agency on the AVCA project and will be recruiting 11 volunteers for a range of projects in Uganda, Costa Rica, Bolivia and Guatemala over the period 2026/7. Please register for our project on the European Solidarity Corps portal in the first instance. Check out our volunteer vacancies page.
