Partners

VC partners manage development or humanitarian projects in marginalised communities.

Our Partnership Approach

Open, accountable and transparent

Partnership Values

Partnership is a mutual, long-term commitment to achieve common objectives based on:

  • A common set of values
  • Equality within the relationship
  • A shared vision of success
  • A mutual commitment to working and learning together

We value the unique contribution and strengths of all partners and conduct our partnerships in an open, accountable and transparent manner.

Partnership Support

Depending on the need we assist partners with a range of supports :

  • Capacity building of their project
  • Access to funding and Monitoring and ongoing Evaluation and Learning
  • Support with funding proposal development
  • Deployment of volunteers with expert skills
  • Advocacy and promotion of cross cutting themes like environmental awareness and disability inclusion

Missionary Approach to Development

VC operates within the Missionary Approach to Development (MADI) framework and the 6As framework as conceptualised by Misean Cara. The missionary approach to development interventions is driven by the Christian inspiration and ethos of the global movement of missionary organisations. Specific features of the missionary approach make it unique within the development sector, while it also incorporates other features that are common to a wider range of international development agencies. The ultimate aim of the missionary approach is to enrich and transform the lives of poor, vulnerable and marginalised people across the globe.

Key Principles

Local-led development

Within the Member Managed Grant funding programme funded by Misean Cara  (MMG), VC applies a set of partnership principles rooted in dignity, justice, and equality. These guide how VC collaborates with partners:

  1. Mutuality: Partnerships are based on shared values, goals, and trust.

  2. Transformation: Partnerships aim to create positive change both for marginalised communities and within the partnerships themselves.

  3. Dynamism: Partnerships evolve over time in response to changing contexts.

  4. Collective Action: VC and partners work together on long-term capacity strengthening, beyond short-term project goals.

  5. Mutual Accountability: VC and its partners share equal responsibility to the communities they serve.

  6. Amplifying Voices: Partnerships help elevate the voices of communities and partners, jointly advocating against injustice and inequality.

VC value the unique contribution and strengths of all partners and conduct our partnerships in an open, accountable and transparent manner.

Becoming a Partner

Partnership focus

East Africa, Haiti and SE Asia

VC works with a range of different partner projects under its Misean Cara supported Member Managed Grant Programme.  Our key area of focus is the East Africa region as we have an office in Kampala, Uganda and a coordination office in Nairobi, Kenya.  We also work with partners in other areas of the world, including Haiti and a legacy project in Cambodia.

EU programme Partners

Under the EU engagement VC continues to apply as lead or as a member of consortium group of partners on various projects. These projects normally last for 24 to 36 months.

Recent examples of these partnerships include the Volunteering for Humanity project where VC was the lead organisation or as a supporting member in the case of our VIVID project to increase awareness around disability within volunteering.  VC is active in the Erasmus programme and European Solidarity Corps humanitarian aid programme.

Prospective Partnership

While VC has limited scope for new partnership outside its committed partnership programme, we are open to potential programmes and projects where VC's expertise can be used. Please contact us to let us know of your interest and we can start a conversation.
