Community Environmental Development Project
I am coordinator of VIDA (Neighbours Together for Environmental Development), involved in environmental awareness raising. Up to the present this has taken the form of workshops in schools and in the community, development of botanic gardens in 3 schools and at a therapy centre for handicapped children. We celebrate key environmental dates like Earth Day, World Water Day, International Animal Day, World Environmental Day etc.
Our on-going activities include compost making, a wormery for humus, schools’ workshops and as mentioned celebration of key environmental events. We were also very involved here in Lima with the recent COP20 climate change event where we participated in a vigil just before the start.
We also work through cultural activities and have ongoing music classes (with environmental themes) and environmental classes for primary school children. At present we´re organising a 6-week Music and Environmental Summer school.
