Taking on Volunteers
Guidelines for VC partners who wish to take on volunteers / lay missionaries.
Taking on a Lay Missionary Volunteer
A guide for partners
Prospective hosting partners must firstly complete the VC Expression of Interest form, part of a due diligence process.
A comprehensive volunteer role description is also required.
The VC Volunteering committtee meets regularly to assess the application in detail, conduct due diligence and determine:
- the suitability of an international volunteer for the project
- the ability of the partner to manage the requirements of a placement
- the overall sustainability of the project
- clarify how the volunteer will be supported while on placement
- assess how VC can support the partner - e.g in Uganda VC has a regional office.
Should the application move forward, VC can support the partner through its expertise in recruiting and training a potential candidate for the role. The VC volunteer is deployed and builds local capacity by passing on the requested transferable skills, working directly with at least one local counterpart.
