Are you interested in becoming a Volunteer? Here’s what to do next;
VC has traditionally offered opportunities in a range of projects and programmes from the medium to longer term, some self-funded, some missionary congregation funded and more recently some volunteering opportunities funded through the EU ESC programme. The VC volunteer programme is going through a remodeling following the changed global situation post COVID. But it is still our intention to answer the missionary call at home and abroad. All roles will require training and preparation support offered by VC and the partner project as well as vetting and suitability interviews.
During the course of the year, we receive a number of requests from Missionary Congregations for volunteers with specialsied skills willing to serve from a period of 6 to 12 months.
One such congregation is the Missionary Sisters of the Assumption based in Johannesburg South Africa with a number of communities based around the country. November 2024- They are looking for a financial person to support and train the communities with systems and processes around basic financial control and book keeping systems and reports.
November 2024 – Another congregation is based in the rural area of Haiti looking for someone with a passion for community development to support an Irish sister living in a remote part of the island. The role would be suitable for someone who has experience of working in a remote rural location. This particular role would entail undertaking a risk assessment for final go-ahead given the security challenges in many parts of the island.
