About the EU AID Volunteers Initiative

The EU Aid Volunteers initiative, funded by the European Commission’s department for Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO) and managed by the EU Executive Agency for Education, Audiovisual and Culture (EACEA), is an opportunity to promote cooperation among active European citizens, working together with communities in countries experiencing humanitarian crises or post-crises.

The EU Aid Volunteers initiative offers:

Funded volunteering opportunities in humanitarian projects worldwide, showing solidarity with vulnerable communities outside of the EU.

Technical assistance for organisations, based in Europe and working in the humanitarian sector in third countries, to strengthen their capacities and become certified to participate in the EU Aid Volunteers Initiative to ensure that they comply with the standards and procedures laid down in the Delegated Regulation EU) No 1398/2014 and the procedures laid down in Implementing Regulation (EU) No 1244/2014.

Certified sending and hosting organisations can then identify suitable humanitarian projects and apply for EU grants to deploy EU Aid Volunteers

Capacity building for local staff and volunteers of organisations in countries hit by disasters or crises to foster a more effective humanitarian response.

 

VC has also achieved EU Certification as a volunteer sending agency and VC Uganda has been certified by the EU as a volunteer hosting organisation. VC is now working on the Quality Label for eligibility under the replacement scheme for EU AVI – European Solidarity Corp volunteer programme (humanitarian strand).
