VC is a development organisation working within faith-based international development. Operating almost entirely remotely with some in house days, VC works with over 12 development partners across a range of sectors and countries. VC addresses needs through development and humanitarian assistance interventions. The focus of VC’s work is working with partners to help provide access to health, education, human rights and livelihoods to local project stakeholders though a range of interventions including access to capacity building, training and international volunteer development workers.
Job Summary
Reporting to and in partnership with the CEO, the Development Officer (Senior) will undertake to oversee and coordinate a new three-year multi annual programme of Irish Aid funding from our key donor Misean Cara. This is a new programme for VC and the Development Officer will have the opportunity to shape and grow the existing development function into the future as a key focus within the organisation.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute VC’s new 3 year multiannual grant programme in collaboration with CEO and project’s team.
- Initial proposal development and design and ongoing project management under four thematic areas of Education, Health, Livelihoods and Human Rights.
- Oversee and manage an Assistant Development Officer and Projects Support Officer
- Maintain and develop ongoing relationships and output with beneficiary partners in Uganda, Haiti and Cambodia.
- Develop, create and continue to improve systems and processes in line with emerging needs including Salesforce CRM.
- Financial budgeting, planning and reporting in collaboration with CEO and partners
- Compliance oversight including Safeguarding and Risk Management.
- Monitoring and Evaluation and learning in line with standardised indicator assessments including international onsite visits as required
- Strategic engagement with VC leadership in terms of ongoing focus, sustainability, direction and methodologies.
- Collaborate with relevant personnel with regard to training, capacity building, volunteering and advocacy support for partners
- Attendance at in person Misean Cara workshops and meetings Dublin as required
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in International Development / Finance, Business or related discipline required (MA preferred).
- 5-Plus years’ experience in Development.
- Demonstrated excellence in organizational and managerial skills.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience in Database management preferably Salesforce.
- Proven history of exceeding goals and objectives.
- Ability to accomplish both a high output expectation and high-quality work.
- Comfort in a remote and evolving workplace and global context required.
- Fluency with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Essential Skills
- Strong attention to detail and logical approach
- Strong people management and delegation support skills
- Grant writing/funding proposals/project cycle management experience/logframes
- Salesforce database or equivalent
- Experience of reviewing and writing project reports
- Excellent English writing skills
- Time management
- Ability to work on own initiative, while also being part of team
- Flexibility to work on a weekend if required offset by time in lieu eg when traveling for M&E activity
- Supportive approach and willingness to engage with all stakeholders
- Overseas international experience in a development context
Essential Competencies

- Excellent people management skills including the ability to motivate, lead, delegate, problem solve and effectively manage a diverse team.
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and excellent organisational and interpersonal skills are essential with an ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Outgoing and enthusiastic with an ability to interact with different groups of people.

Contract: Permanent (Employee)
Remuneration: €35,000

Hours: Full time 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday)
Note: While this role is remote, ideally the candidate should be available for occasional in person meetings with the VC team and with Misean Cara.
