On May 24th 2021 VC CEO Shane Halpin presented a key note address as part of an AMRI webinar on the need for a coordinated lay voice within the Irish Church. Over 150 people attended the online event. It came as the Irish Bishops have begun a process of preparation for a national synod or assembly on the future needs of the Catholic Church in a changing Ireland. VC continues to specialise within the faith-based sector and has been a leading organisation in encouraging lay people to follow their baptismal calling abroad while volunteering overseas but also at home, for the last 60 years of its existence.
